Details of the events are given below.
EVENT 1: Sunday, 10 Jan, 1330 – 1630 – “Commercial Space Exploring the Path Forward” Workshop
The workshop will explore research opportunities and priorities for all aspects of Spaceport Operations. The workshop will last for 3 hours. The first 45 minutes will be an overview presentation, covering the major topic areas of Spaceport Launch/Landing Requirements, Spaceport Interoperability, and Support Services Requirements. The workshop participants will then self-select into three groups, one for each of the major topic areas presented. The typology of each topic area will be presented as follows:
1.1. Spaceport Launch/Landing Requirements, including: Demand Studies, Traffic Modeling, and Noise Modeling
1.2. Spaceport Interoperability, including: Domestic, and International
1.3. Support Services Requirements, including Industry (Fuel Farms, Hazmat Procedures, Infrastructure, and Safety), and Passengers
Each group will spend the next 90 minutes (a) identifying any missing areas within the topic area typology, and (b) generating and prioritizing research ideas within each of the major topic areas. The product of each group will be a powerpoint presentation with about 5-7 slides of their work results. The final 45 minutes of the workshop will be spent with each group reporting their findings to the entire group. Facilitators will conclude the workshop by making summarizing remarks.
EVENT 2: Monday, 11 Jan, 1930 – 2130 “Space Traffic Management Today and in the Future” Panel Session
As with most panels, this is a fairly informal discussion with presentations by the moderator and participants. Here’s the line-up that was proposed:
